Which one fits
An honest way to choose.
Choose Tavus when
You need a photorealistic human on video
- A video likeness of a real person matters more than cost per minute
- You are building your own product on a video-agent API
- You want to plug in any model that speaks the OpenAI API format
Choose Somebody when
You need an agent that stays and does things
- The agent should be present on the page for every visitor, not only after a click
- It needs to act: navigate, fill forms, build a cart
- You train people and need scores and an LMS export
- You want to run on your own OpenAI, Gemini or Azure agreement
What it costs
On Tavus’s public plans the included minutes work out at roughly $0.24 to $0.37 each, and its documentation says billing follows session runtime, not speaking time.
Somebody counts minutes only while a conversation is active. Pro is $29 a month with 150 avatar minutes on Included AI, or 1,000 on your own AI keys, where your provider bills you separately for the model. Extra minutes are $0.12 with Included AI and $0.03 with your own keys.

Is Somebody a Tavus alternative?
For conversations on a website, in training or in a meeting, yes. If you need a photorealistic video replica of a specific person, Tavus is built for that and Somebody is not.
Why is the per-minute price so different?
Tavus renders video on cloud GPUs for every live viewer. Somebody draws the face on the visitor’s device, so the per-minute cost is the conversation’s AI, not a video stream.
Can I move a Tavus agent to Somebody?
Bring the prompt, the knowledge and the scenario. Choose an avatar and a voice in the app and you can usually test an equivalent agent the same day.
